Postdoctoral position in molecular modeling of polymer brushes

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the area of molecular simulations of polymer brushes in solvents. The target applications include polymer brushes for lubrication and polymer brushes in biological environments. The project would involve both coarse-grained molecular dynamics and implicit solvent Langevin dynamics simulations of polymers.

The following skills are desirable,

  • Research expertise in numerical computations, molecular simulations or theoretical soft condensed matter physics would be preferred.

  • PhDs in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Physical Chemistry or Theoretical/Computational Biology are encouraged to apply.

PhD research in simulation of polypeptides in nanopores

Transport of macromolecules, including DNA, RNA, proteins and polymers, through nanopores is relevant to several biological processes and also to bioanalytical technologies. Aspects of macromolecular transport related to mechanism, kinetics and selectivity can be investigated using molecular simulation tools. This PhD thesis work will involve use of molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the selective transport of biological macromolecules through nanopores.

  • Students with appropriate engineering, physics, or physical chemistry backgrounds would be suitable.

  • A mathematical aptitude and basic computer programming knowledge is desirable.

  • Interested students will have to meet the IITB eligibility norms and clear the MEMS department PhD selection procedure for admission into the PhD program.
